Overview
The world is increasingly being impacted by climate change. This impact is effecting all species and environments around the globe. The result of climate change is the following:
- Droughts
- Water scarcity
- Severe fires
- Rising sea levels
- Flooding
- Melting polar ice
- More aggressive storms
- Declining biodiversity
- Wars and conflict
Environment and impact understanding
A learner of a category B licence should now have an understanding about how the environment is being impacted
- Understand different regulations there are for motorvehicles
- Understand how your driving style can impact the environment
- Learn about different choises you can make when it comes to traveling and which route to choose
CO2 Gas
- CO2 is a greenhouse gas
- A green house gas "catch" sun rays from escaping back to outer space
- This causes sun rays to hea up the atmosfeer more
- This is similar to a green house. Where heat cant escape the glass windowns of a greenhouse
How can you reduce your carbon footprint
- Buy electric car. Electric car runs on electricity. If your electricity comes from clean sources like hydro or wind you have a lower impact on the atmosfeer
- Buy new car VS an older car. New cars are more economical and efficient
- Use public transport more often, especially for shorter distances (An car with a cold catalatyic converter pollutes the atmosfeer a lot more. When you drive short distances your catalatic converter has had no time to warm up)
- Wash your car with eco detergents and dont let the water run off into the nearest man hole. As the pollution will drain into the nearest lake or watercourse
- Right air pressure in your car wheels. This reduces resistance on the car and reduces fuel usage
- Remove any equipment or roofboxes from the car that causes air resistance or additional weight.
